Since some time the smartbarre is not opening. The error message talks of ERROR IN ACTIVEX CONTROLS DURING CREATION. Indeed, I tried to download fresh copies of smartbarre, both Installation and Executable versions, from your web-site but to no avail. And except for opening smartbarre, my computer and the internet connection have been working well without causing any hindrance to any of my activities either on Internet or otherwise. Could you help me in this matter so that I wont continue to lose precious points?

je traduis (librement) pour les non-anglophiles : "depuis un certain temps la barre smart ne s'ouvre pas. Le message d'erreur parle "d'erreur de contrôle ActiveX pendant la création". J'ai essayé de re-télécharger et installer la barre, tant dans le mode exécutable que installation depuis le site smart. En dehors de smartbarre, mon ordi et les connections internet fonctionnent correctement, sans aucune coupure internet ou autre. Pouvez-vous m'aider pour que je perde pas de précieux points"

first part of the answer. The problem you had, usaualy comes when installing smartbarre together with other applications running. The thing comes from (normaly) flash macromedia. Try to stop all applications. Uninstal smartbarre, then install it again. Now you can start every thing you want. It should work !!
If any other problem, post it in the "bugs encontered chapter". This one is "discussion about the bar", but not for problems or bugs.

I come back again. Before uninstalling smartbarre, uninstall macromedia flash player. Close all applications, reinstall properly flash MP, then smartbarre. It works 99% of the time.

for sure, after reinstaling macromedia flash player, you have to reboot your computer. Afterwards, you can reinstal smartbarre. But I am sure you have done like this !!

Mr.Effsonville, I tried your suggestion several times over. I have uninstalled all the previous versions of the Barre and re-installed one's that I downloaded from the smartbarre site. But to no avail. And as for, the macromedia flash-player, I do not seem to have one. I looked up in Add-Remove Programs as well as in Add-in Browser settings. But nothing is to be found. Do you have anything else up your sleeves?

Try to install flash payer. Don't forbid any kind of control in the activX control panel, either in Internet explorer or other explorer
